How We Test Your Precious Metals

At On Spot Silver, we use several testing methods to help verify your precious metals. We select the appropriate tests based on the item.

• Sigma Metalytics: Checks the electrical properties of coins and bullion to help verify that they match the expected metal.
• Vanta XRF Analyzer: Uses X-ray technology to identify the metals present near an item’s surface and measure their percentages.
• Electronic Densimeter: Measures an item’s density and compares it with the expected density of the precious metal.

Gold Jewelry Testing

For gold jewelry, we use a destructive testing process that involves melting the gold in-house to help determine its gold content. Melting permanently changes the jewelry, and it cannot be returned in its original form. We explain the process and obtain your permission before proceeding.
